Bio:

Born and raised in the concrete jungle of Oslo city centre, Torkjel has few prerequisites of becoming a nature loving mountaineer. The YMCA taught him the basic skills at an early age, before the year as a paratrooper in the Armed Forces' Special Command really triggered his passion for the outdoor life. Five years at university, including one in Lausanne (Switzerland), gave him the MSc of Industrial Economics and Technology Management title. During these years he easily connected with Andreas, who has became a good friend and an adventure partner.

The lust of specializing even further into the Armed Forces was strong after five years of studying, but a series of unfortunate events wanted it otherwise. In search for new plans, his breakthrough turned out to be an inspiring lunch in August 2014 with Lars Ebbesen, a well-renowned adventurer and Andreas' uncle. He realized his desire for adventure and mountaineering was stronger than that of a well-paid A4 job.

The lunch resulted in the purchase of a one-way ticket to Nepal. After spending two months in the breathtaking Himalayan range it was clear - he was hooked and there was no turning back! Since then, he has financed his trips by working in customer service for SATS ELIXIA. After having spent almost four months abroad in the past year, and bagged three of the seven summits, he is not going to stop. In addition to the last four of the seven summits, the list of future objectives is still growing.
